Recently, 301 teens in Nigeria participated in an art competition to promote conservation of the critically endangered Cross River Gorilla and to create awareness among their peers about this unique species.  Six students emerged as winners and were given the opportunity to visit their state capital, Calabar, where they learned more about conservation from the WCS Nigeria office, primate rehabilitation centers, media offices and other government ministries.

An ecology club in Tennessee gave the US Forest Service at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Center a day of service repairing and creating nature trails.

One team consisting of kids of all ages, cleaned up a 6 mile stretch of the Flint River northeast of Huntsville, AL last month. The team canoed down the river to pull out the junk!

High School students in Grainger County, Tennessee, took a field trip to Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center.  There they met Mr. Bill Nickle, who explained how the facility is "off-the-grid" and relies on solar, wind, and geothermal power. The students learned that if we all work together to make small changes, we could lower carbon gas emissions, help our planet, and save money.
